Shhh. Do you hear that?
It’s a quiet house. Teeth have been brushed, books have been read, glasses of water have been requested.
And now the kids are finally asleep!
Which means it’s time for the parents to sneak away for a little adult fun.
You know what I’m talking about.
Breaking Bad, The Walking Dead, Dexter, Homeland, Spartacus. The kind of TV shows you told your kids they couldn’t watch until they’re 35.
They are some of the best series on TV right now, and they are definitely not for children.
Speaking of Spartacus, the second season of this Starz series premieres in just a few days, on Friday, January 27, at 10pm ET/PT.
Yes, it’s got blood-soaked action and exotic sexuality!
Yes, it has epic villainy and heroism!
Yes, it stars Lucy Lawless and Liam McIntyre!
Yes, it has pizza and t-shirts!
Wait, what? That’s right, Starz has offered me one of those very cool giveaway packages that I can’t resist. If you’re a longtime reader of this blog, you’ll know how much I love my contests.
Someone’s going to win the following Spartacus: Vengeance Premiere Party Pack:
4 Spartacus T-shirts, 2 Spartacus water bottles, fake blood, and a $20 Domino’s Pizza gift certificate.
So, what you do is invite a few friends over to watch the new Spartacus series, put on your Spartacus t-shirts, order a pizza, then spread the fake blood all over yourself and your house and wait for the Domino’s guy to show up. If you’re lucky he’ll throw the pizza down and run away screaming.
Or maybe you should just pay for it online with the gift certificate.
Anyway, go watch the show on Friday. Spartacus: Vengeance, on Starz. If you haven’t seen the first series, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, I highly recommend it for those who like gladiator epics. Loads of mindless fun. Just make sure the kids are asleep!
If you want to win the Spartacus Party Pack, leave a comment here telling me your favorite TV show to watch after the children have gone to bed.
I’ll pick a winner this weekend.

It’s gotta be Dexter! Started watching it when season 3 came on and just got all caught up on the first 2 seasons. It has a perfect start time of 9PM on Sunday so the kiddies are already up in their beds while Dad has some red wine to go along with all of the blood spatter!
Hmmm… Probably Vampire Diaries. I know, it doesn’t stand up to Spartacus in the blood-soaked and sex-filled category, but it’s not really something we want the kids to watch, either.
We like to watch a few British shows that aren’t really good for kids under the age of 16 or so… Hustle, MI-5, Life On Mars. Thanks for the giveaway!
My favorite is the Walking Dead. I love anything that is apocalyptic especially with flesh eating zombies.
“Haven’t heard about it yet in Oz” … does it counts?
Breaking Bad is great TV. Thanks for the contest!
Spartacus is fun. Looking forward to the next series. Not gonna let the kids anywhere near the TV for it.
I like to watch reality TV after my son goes to bed! Usually Dog the Bounty Hunter!
Dexter, definitely. Would never let my kids even know I enjoy it.
For me, it’s Ancient Aliens! Can’t let the kids know that their father believes in the little grey dudes, and that we’ve been visited by ALIENS!! Because they think theirs no such thing as Santa, and that their mother and I are the one’s that get them their Christmas gifts! LOL …if they knew I believe in ETs, they would try and talk me out of believing in them! “The Truth is Out There” … and I just wouldn’t be able to prove it to them!
Ahh as my kids are older teens, they watch what I watch now, my middle son and I are fans of Breaking Bad.
A friend has just given me the first season of Spartacus on DVD to watch. That is my kids are in bed, all’s quiet, must watch show right now.
Spartacus has been my guilty pleasure! I bought Blood and Sand on DVD and just finished watching it a couple of weeks ago… perfect timing, just in time for Vengeance to start! I’m hooked!
Absolutely Spartacus!!! Me and my hubby watch Spartacus every time it comes on…reruns also. We have the first season Blood and Sand and he constantly watches it. We look forward to Friday nights just so we can watch Spartacus. I was kind of on the fence about the show when I watched the first episode but I watched it then I was hooked!! There is not a better show.
This contest has now ended!
Consulting the Random Number Generator, I come up with a 4, which means the winner is…. Julie!
Thanks to everyone for entering.
