Get Stuffed

by Idaho Dad on September 6, 2011

I didn’t know what I was missing.

Apparently, stuffed burgers are all the rage these days. Since I’m not watching the Food Network or Man Vs. Food, I really had no idea that a person would even want to stuff things into a burger patty.

So, when the people at Head Chefs sent me their new Fully Loaded Burger Stuffer, I was kind of skeptical.

The silicone contraption looked too simple to produce an actual gourmet-style burger.

But that’s the beauty of it. The process is simple, and it allowed me to form a perfectly-stuffed slab of ground beef in just a few minutes.

It’s all done by folding.

First, you divide about 5 ounces of meat in half and place them on the stuffer.

Next, you fold the lid over to flatten out the meat.

This creates two little bowls of ground beef, one of which you can fill with your favorite ingredients.

I stuffed my burger with gorgonzola blue cheese, bacon, buffalo hot sauce, and pickle relish.

Last, you fold one patty on top of the other, do a little squishing and mashing, then peel back the lid to reveal the finished product.

Throw it on the grill and get ready for a treat. I may not ever make regular hamburgers again.

Like I said, I was initially skeptical about the product. It won me over immediately, though, simply because it worked so well. My son made a few burger patties with me and found it almost impossible to mess up.

You might have to do some pinching and squeezing to shore up the seams of the finished patty before grilling, or risk a cheese waterfall into your coals. But with just a bit of fine-tuning, the result was well worth the $19.99 Head Chefs is charging for their Burger Stuffer (Amazon has it for $18.99 right now).

Oh, and did I mention you can throw the whole thing into the dishwasher when you’re done? Icing on the cake.
